We’re Recruiting: Freelance Salad Picker

WHO?

We’re looking for someone to help us with our weekly salad pick. You need to be an early riser (we start at dawn) and be willing to get stuck in whatever the weather. This is a physically active role and you need to be able to crouch or bend down picking salad for several hours at a time. The role also involves, washing and packing the salad. This is not an unskilled job!! You need to have good attention to detail. A love of gardening, salad, and/or growing vegetables (or even a desire to one day run your own market garden) would be a bonus.

When?

We pick our salad once a week. This role is for about 5 hours a week on Wednesday mornings from dawn (about 5.30am currently!) until the salad is picked, washed and packed. Occasionally we may ask you to also deliver some salad bags into Belfast so a driving licence would be a bonus. We’re looking for someone to start immediately (from 4 August 2021).

Where?

The job is based at our kitchen garden, 2 miles outside Saintfield, County Down.

HOW MUCH?

We’re offering £10ph for this role. You would be responsible for invoicing us on a monthly basis and you need to be registered as self-employed (we can help you do this if you’re not already self-employed).

HOW?

If you are interested in the role please email us at hello@theedibleflower.com with the following information:

  • why you think you suit this role?
  • why do you think this role suits you?
  • would you also be happy and able to deliver salad bags occasionally?
  • when could you start?

Applications will close at midday on Sunday 1st August (assuming we get some!).

We will invite the successful applicant to a paid trial salad harvest on the next available Wednesday morning to make sure the candidate is the right fit for the role.

(The garden doesn’t always look like this!)
