Join us at Indie Fude in Comber on Friday 9 or Saturday 10 March for a Malaysian Feast.
This will be our last supper club in Indie Fude’s old venue before they make the move to a fabulous new space, still in Comber, in April. For this dinner, we will be exploring the aromatic, coconutty and ethnically diverse cuisine of Malaysia. Malaysia’s history as a trade route between India, China, Indonesia and beyond has brought waves of immigrants and hence culinary influences to the area. Malay and Peranakan cuisine (the cuisine of Chinese immigrants intermingled with the Malay) is an intoxicating mix of Chinese, Indian and traditional Malay food. This five-course meal will be packed full of Malaysian flavours (and a few more local ones too), think coconut, lemongrass, chilli, pandan, rhubarb, cardamom, lime leaf, mango, peanuts, shallots, tamarind, ginger and lime.
A few years ago we spent a lovely couple of weeks in the beautiful coastal city of Penang – the centre of Pernakan cuisine, sampling Chinese Dim Sum, the Indian-inspired Roti Canai and the coconutty, spicy, Malay and Indonesian street food. As always, we’ll be matching a few of the courses with a taste of craft beers and chatting about Malaysian food, beer and brewing.
Indie Fude is an independent food company sourcing locally handmade Irish products. They love supporting local food makers and sharing the lovely products they find with their customers via their online shop, their deli in Comber and at a range of markets across Northern Ireland.
