We’re really excited to announce that first event in our ‘The Future of Food’ supper club series will be ‘Eat Food, Mostly Plants’ at Boden Park Coffee Company on the Ormeau Road, Belfast on Friday 23 & Saturday 24 February 2018.
Inspired by food writer Michael Pollan’s book ‘Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual’ and his rallying cry to get us all to incorporate more plants into our diet, this will be a completely plant-based (and thus vegan) menu. We aren’t vegan or vegetarian but we regularly eat completely plant-based meals and we want to share some of our favourite dishes. Come along if you are vegan, if you are interested in eating more plants or if you are deeply sceptical about meat and dairy-free dining and we’ll attempt to change your mind!

Boden Park Coffee Company is a coffee shop based in the beautiful old Ormeau Bakery Building on the vibrant Ormeau Road. The coffee shop, run by entrepreneur Orla McKeating, provides delicious coffees, homemade cakes, pastries and lunches to her eager local (and not so local) audience. Orla has also recently started roasting her own coffee beans for the cafe with delicious results, her Costa Rica Coffee will be featured in a sorbet in February’s menu.
The menu: A five-course plant-based tasting menu of eclectic dishes inspired by our travels in Thailand, Mexico and Morocco as well as by the beautiful Boden Park Coffee that Orla roasts, plus a few extras. Think freshly baked bread, spicy pickles, coconut, lemongrass, cinnamon, turmeric, corn tortillas, preserved lemons, chocolate and blood oranges. Plus a dash of house-roasted coffee.
The drinks: This event is BYO. Please bring a bottle (or more) of your favourite tipple. A welcome cocktail will be provided plus a small taste of craft beer matched with a few of the courses.
The time: 7.30pm, Friday 23 or Saturday 24 February 2018
The place: Boden Park Coffee Company, Unit 10, Ormeau Bakery, Ormeau Road
The cost: £38 per person (plus a £1 booking fee) for a five-course tasting menu plus a few extras.
Dietary Requirements: This menu is completely plant-based and thus vegetarian and vegan. For all other dietary requirements just let us know when you book and we’ll try our absolute best to accommodate you.
