**Both evenings are now SOLD OUT – Sorry!**
Join us at Indie Fude in Comber on Thursday 23 or Friday 24 February for our ‘Ottolenghi Tribute Act’ Middle Eastern menu. This five course meal will be packed full of middle eastern flavours, think coriander, ginger, pistachios, citrus fruit, cinnamon, saffron, apricots, harissa and preserved lemon.
For those who don’t know, Yotam Ottolenghi is a London-based chef, originally from Israel. He draws on flavours and ingredients from the Middle East and beyond to create surprising, complex dishes that use vegetables and grains in new and interesting ways. The restaurants he runs (alongside some other fabulous chefs such as Ramael Scully and Sami Tamimi) are particularly famous for their beautiful, vibrant salads that are often displayed dramatically in the restaurant windows. Ottolenghi is not a vegetarian chef, but for several years he wrote a vegetarian column called ‘The New Vegetarian’ for the Guardian and he has authored several vegetarian cookbooks. We’re not vegetarian either, but we love to cook veggie food, hence this menu is entirely vegetarian.
Lots of the dishes we’ll be cooking will be our favourite recipes from Ottolenghi cookbooks, but we’re also including a few of our own dishes, ones we hope Ottolenghi would approve of! We’ll be matching a few of the courses with a taste of craft beers and chatting about Middle Eastern food, beer and brewing.
Indie Fude is an independent food company sourcing locally handmade Irish products. They love supporting local food makers and sharing the lovely products they find with their customers via their online shop, their deli in Comber and at a range of markets across Northern Ireland.
