Twilight Gardening @ The Edible Flower – Summer 2021

We are absolutely thrilled to be running our fourth, annual, Twilight Gardening summer series.

The connection between the garden and the kitchen here at the Edible Flower is so important to us. It makes our lives, and meals, inevitably seasonal. There are so many “firsts” to look-forward to each year – the first spring lettuce leaf, first beetroot, first potato, first courgette. There is so much joy as seeds germinate, as edible flowers bloom and as the harvests start rolling in.

Twilight Gardening is our way to share this joy with you – inspiring you to try something new in your garden or in your kitchen.

Twilight Gardening is a six-week course, run on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings here at The Edible Flower, from late June to early August. Each session starts by exploring a different topic in the kitchen garden, learning how to grow something edible, and finishes with a delicious homemade meal inspired by (and made with) the best produce from the garden that day. Come along to just one evening, or book to attend all six sessions.

This is what Barbara had to say about Twilight Gardening:

“Each session was complete joy from start to finish… I loved the practical side of things – the chance to get outside to see what was growing, making soil blocks (which I had never heard of until then), planting lettuce, and tasting the various leaves, herbs and flowers etc on our weekly wander around the beds. Jo’s enthusiasm is infectious, an her ability to inspire people is amazing. (Emma turning up 36 hrs before her son’s wedding to learn how to make compost is a testament to this!). Picking what we were going to eat later, and seeing it transformed in a short space of time by Erin into an amazing array of colourful dishes so full of flavour, was wonderful. I think “supper” does not do it justice – it was a banquet every week!”

Caroline said:

“Thank you so much for your hospitality and for the brilliant sessions. I really enjoyed switching off from the day job and learning new things in an informal environment.”

And Emma said:

“Twilight Gardening has been such a great experience – good for mind, body and soul. The added extra of the delicious supper and opportunity to meet so many interesting people was a treat. It is a winning combination!”
