Vegetable Boxes

For three seasons now, we’ve been growing organic, no-dig vegetables, salad leaves, herbs and edible flowers in our kitchen garden for use at our supper clubs, workshops and catering jobs. Our fourth season at The Edible Flower, 2020, is turning out a wee bit different! With all our events and jobs cancelled for the foreseeable future, we have lots of delicious freshly grown produce to find a use for.

That’s why, in July 2020, we’re launching our first ever (micro) vegetable box scheme.

How does the scheme work?

Members of the scheme pay upfront to get a share of the vegetable harvest over a ten week period from Wednesday 15 July 2020 to Wednesday 16 September 2020. Produce is harvested on a Wednesday and will be available to pick up that day from midday from The Edible Flower, 121 Middle Road, Saintfield, BT24 7LS.

For the 2020 season we are offering places for just five members. We hope to expand significantly in future years. To join our vegetable box waiting list for 2021 please send us an email on

What do you get in our Vegetable Boxes?

You will get a share of what ever is best that week in the garden. This will include, herbs & salad leaves, potatoes, scallions, shallots, peas, green beans, kale, chard, perpetual spinach, beetroot, carrots, kohlrabi, occasional edible flowers and other surprises. All the vegetables are grown here, herbicide-free pesticide-free and peat-free.

Each week we’ll aim to create a lovely balanced box for a household of 2-4 people. Unfortunately, due to the tiny scale of our operations we’re not able to personalise your box. So, this box is great for keen cooks willing to plan their meals around what is seasonal that week.

How much are the boxes?

The boxes are £12.50 each over ten weeks – a total of £125 paid in advance.

Can you deliver?

Simply put, no. Sorry but we don’t have the resources to deliver individual boxes to you.

How do I sign up?

Unfortunatley our veg boxes for 2020 are all sold out. If you’re interested in a veg box in 2021, send us an email to and we’ll add you to the waiting list.

What happens if I need to cancel or go on holiday?

Unfortunately we’re not able to “pause” your box for a week or two if you are planning on going on holiday – but, this might not be too much of an issue this year! If you do have to go away, you are very welcome to send a friend or neighbour in your place to pick up and enjoy your vegetables that week.

If you’re often away travelling, this box is probably not for you.

The idea for our veg box scheme is that you sign up in advance for the whole 10 weeks. However, we know unexpected things do happen – If you need to cancel your box part-way through the 10 week scheme, please give us as much notice as possible and we will refund the amount due for any remaining weeks. If you are able to find someone to take over the second half of the box scheme in your place, even better.
