The Story of a Supper Club
At the end of July 2018 we collaborated with curious cook and finder of weird and wonderful wild things to eat, Clare McQuillan (@claremcqq) for a Hedgerow Picnic Supper Club. We invited photographers Simon & Lorna (and their new little one Isla Mae - just a babe in arms) from Taca Works to capture the evening in images. They have created a magical 'storyboard' of the event and these are some of the images I want to share here.
We love using storytelling in our supper clubs and anyone who has attended one of our events will know that we interrupt with each course to tell our guests about the inspiration behind a dish or an ingredient. Simon & Lorna have captured the story of this event visually, from beginning to end - from the behind the scenes prep (and washing up) to the quiet & calm beauty of the dining space before the guests arrive, from the finishing touches on the dishes to the happy faces of the guests. It was a magical night! All beautiful images by Simon & Lorna of Taca Works.
Behind the Scenes...
The Calm Before the Storm…
We hosted the event in the refurbished cow byre at our farmhouse in Saintfield and our Event Organiser extraordinaire, Shannon (@candaharcats) styled the space with a suitably wild picnic theme – think red and white gingham checks alongside wildflowers, creeping ivy and hanging leafy boughs.
Welcoming Our Lovely Guests…
Feasting on the Hedgerows…
The concept of the event was to celebrate all of summer’s wild bounty with ingredients collected from the hedgerows, seashores and woodlands of Belfast and County Down, alongside showcasing some of Jo’s beautiful garden produce. To see the menu we cooked click here.
