Last June we took an amazing culinary trip to Ukraine with the renowned Ukrainian chef Olia Hercules. We cooked and ate our way around the Western Ukraine and now we are bringing a slice (or two) of this delicious cuisine to Northern Ireland.
When you think of culinary superstars, Ukraine might not be the first country that pops into your head, but do not be deceived. This is a place where people are enthusiastic about eating! Ukrainian food is all about aromatic herbs, crunchy vegetables, zingy soups, fermented foods, homemade cheese, unctuous pork, fresh pasta and vodka. Lots of vodka! In the Ukrainian countryside many people still grow vegetables and preserve them, keep bees & livestock, make their own dairy products, the food reflects this knowledge and passion and is somehow both comforting and fresh, reassuring and full of surprises.
Read more about our trip to Ukraine on our blog and if you’re free, come along to our supper club where we’ll be sharing stories and recipes along with the yummy food.
