OKTOBERFEST SUPPER CLUB @ THE EDIBLE FLOWER, 20 & 21 SEPTEMBER 19

This year we’re adding to our annual calendar of events with an autumnal feast to celebrate the equinox, the turning of the seasons and our love of great beer.

Back in 2015, when we ran the Leytonstone Brewhouse and Kitchen, a tiny supper club from our East London home, our events were almost as much about the beer as the food. So, in homage to those previous events, this September’s supper club is very much inspired by the beer we’ll be brewing to match with the food, and of course, the bountiful vegetables we’ll be harvesting from the garden.

For the menu, we’re taking inspiration from the Oktoberfest celebrations in Germany – which despite the name happen mostly in September – and the renaissance of craft brewing in the U.S. Think BBQed sausages, pretzels, mustard, pickles, mushrooms, beets, plums, apples, cinnamon and a bit of zingy feta, avocado and lemon to lighten everything up!

We’ll begin the evening with a beery cocktail and some tasty snacks and finish the night (weather permitting) all gathered around our fire pit with a mint tea and German biscuits.

On arrival:
Ginger & Coriander Seed Shandy
Homemade Pretzels and Mustard Dip
Mac & Cheese Croquettes

To start:
Obatzda (Spiced Cheese-butter Spread) & Mushroom Crostini
Pickles & The Edible Flower Garden Salad

The main event:
Hellbent Boerwors Sausages cooked on the BBQ with Rhubarb Ketchup
Ossetian Pies stuffed with Feta, Greens & Scallions 
Apple, Cabbage & Caraway Sauerkraut
Potato & Corleggy Goat’s Cheese Pancakes
Courgette, Avocado & Lemon Salad with Poppyseeds
Roasted Beetroot & Shallots with Pickled Blackberries

To refresh:
Spiced Plum Sorbet


To finish:
Apple & Cinnamon Streusel Cake with Blackberry & Bay Ice Cream

Round the fire pit:
Mint Tea and Mini German Biscuits

The drinks: This event is BYO. Please bring a bottle (or more) of your favourite tipple. A welcome drink will be provided plus a small taste of specially brewed craft beer matched with three of the courses.
The time: 7pm, Friday 20 or Saturday 21 September 2019
The place: The Edible Flower, Middle Road, Saintfield, Co. Down, BT24 7LS
The cost: £42 per person (plus £1.50 booking fee), for a four-course menu plus a few extras.
Dietary Requirements:
 Veggie options are available for all courses (see menu above) but please let us know in advance if you require the veggie option. Unfortunately this menu isn’t suitable for vegan or gluten free guests – we usually try to cater for everyone but this menu is a bit tricky as it relies on a lot of wheat and dairy. For all other dietary requirements just let us know when you book and we’ll try our absolute best to accommodate you.
