A PLANT HUNTER’S YUNNANESE ADVENTURE @ FODDER – SATURDAY 29TH FEBRUARY 2020

This Spring we’ll be heading back to why our little supper club first started – our love of South East Asian Food. We’ll also be heading back to one of our favourite venues, the Fodder Cafe and Farm Shop at Finnebrogue Woods. We will be serving up a sumptuous Asian Feast in Fodder’s magical tipi nestled in the woods.

We’ll start the evening with drinks and nibbles around the fire, then step into Fodder’s cozy tipi. The menu is inspired by the first expedition in 1904 of the Scottish botanist and plant hunter, George Forrest (who is Jo’s great great uncle). He visited the Yunnan province of South West China, via India and Burma to collect seeds and plant specimens for avid collectors and botanical gardens back in the UK. We retraced his footsteps (and attempted to find his grave) approximately one hundred years later, and this menu celebrates some of the flavours and dishes we (and perhaps he) experienced along the way.

The drinks: This event is BYO. Please bring a bottle (or more) of your favourite tipple. A welcome drink will be provided.
The time: 7pm, Saturday 29 February 2020
The place:  Fodder, Finnebrogue Woods, 26 Killyleagh Road, Downpatrick BT30 9BL
The cost: £45 per person (plus £1.50 booking fee), for a four-course menu plus a few extras. Tickets are also available to buy directly from the Fodder Farm Shop for £45 – head down there to grab a coffee and some delicious lunch and avoid the booking fee!
Dietary Requirements: Veggie options are available for all courses (see menu above) but please let us know in advance if you require the veggie option. For all other dietary requirements just let us know when you book and we’ll try our absolute best to accommodate you.

Plant hunting fancy dress is optional!
